Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often from foundation contractors. Can't find yours? Ask us directly.

01Pickup & delivery

Do you deliver to [my city]?

We deliver anywhere in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Flat-rate round-trip pricing:

  • Miami-Dade: $175 — includes Miami, Doral, Hialeah, Homestead, Kendall, Coral Gables, Aventura, and everything in between
  • Broward: $225 — Fort Lauderdale, Pompano, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Weston, Coral Springs, Deerfield Beach
  • Palm Beach: $295 — West Palm, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Jupiter, Boynton, Lake Worth

Outside these three counties? Call us — we can often arrange it with a surcharge.

Is same-day delivery really same-day?

Yes, if your order is confirmed before 10:00 AM. After 10, we schedule for next-day. Weekend deliveries are available for jobs running Saturday shifts — call ahead.

How does the QR pickup work?

When your booking is confirmed, you get a QR code via email. Show it on your phone to the yard attendant at any of our three partner yards. They scan it, verify your booking, and release your tooling. No paper, no account rep, no signature — you're in and out in under 5 minutes if your gear is racked and ready.

Can I return to a different yard than I picked up from?

Yes. All three yards accept returns of any AugerVault tooling regardless of where it came from. If you picked up in Medley and your next job is in West Palm, drop it at the Palm Beach yard on your way home.

What if nobody's at my jobsite when the delivery truck arrives?

Our driver calls 30 minutes out. If we can't reach anyone and there's no safe drop location, we hold the tooling and reschedule. A second delivery attempt is billed at 100% of the original delivery fee, so it pays to have a site contact.

02Rental mechanics

Can I rent past my end date if the job runs long?

Call us before your rental ends — extensions are almost always approved if stock allows, and we bill at the best continuing tier (if you extend past 7 total days, the weekly rate kicks in; past 28, the monthly). If you go past your end date without calling, late fees apply: one full daily rate for 4–24 hours late, then 150% of daily plus a $125 admin fee after 24 hours.

There's a 4-hour grace window if you just got caught in traffic on the way to return.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

48+ hours before rental start: full refund. 24–48 hours before: 50% of the first day's rate retained. Less than 24 hours or no-show: one full daily rate retained. Delivery fees are refundable only if we haven't dispatched the truck yet.

Do I have to pick up the tool the day my rental starts?

The rental clock starts when the tool physically leaves our yard or our truck, not when your booking says it should. So if your job gets pushed, just delay pickup — you're not billed until the gear is in your possession.

Can I sub-rent or loan the tool to another contractor?

No. Rentals are non-transferable. Sub-renting or loaning voids the damage waiver and makes the renter fully liable for replacement value of the tooling.

03Compatibility & specs

What rigs are your adapters compatible with?

We stock three Kelly adapter configurations covering the overwhelming majority of South Florida rigs:

  • Watson square drive — 4" box to 5-1/8" stub. Fits Watson EDT, Watson CAT, Soilmec SF-series (with adapter), and most Texoma rigs.
  • Soilmec hex drive — 4-1/8" stub to 5" box. For Soilmec R-series and CM-series.
  • CFA hex stub — direct fit for CFA-configured rigs (Bauer, Casagrande, IMT CFA heads).

Running something else? Call us — we can usually source or borrow a specific adapter.

What kelly box sizes do you stock?

Our rental auger fleet is standardized on 5-1/8" kelly box, the most common size for Miami-area rigs. If you run a different size, adapters are part of our inventory — rental or custom solutions available.

Can your rock augers handle Miami limestone?

Yes — they're purpose-built for it. Carbide conical teeth, heavy-duty flights, double-cut heads. Miami Limestone and Fort Thompson Formation are what we designed the fleet around. For harder-than-typical sections (cemented caprock), core barrels may be the better choice.

Do you have augers smaller than 12" or bigger than 36"?

Not in standard stock. Our range covers 95% of Miami foundation work — 12" to 24" CFA (auger-cast piling) and 18" to 36" rock/dirt/core (drilled shafts). For odd sizes (e.g. 48" core barrel or 8" dirt auger), we can often source from our partner network with 2–3 days lead time.

04Accounts & payment

Do you offer net-30?

Yes, after 3+ completed rentals in good standing (on-time returns, no damage disputes). Submit a credit application with three trade references and an AP contact, and we'll approve most applications within 48 hours.

Is there a deposit on my first rental?

Yes — new accounts pay a refundable security deposit held against the replacement value of the tooling. The deposit is released within 5 business days of a clean return. After your second rental, repeat accounts have no deposit required.

Do you require a Certificate of Insurance?

Yes, before first dispatch. Minimum requirements: Commercial General Liability $1M/$2M, Inland Marine / Equipment Floater covering replacement value, and Workers' Comp per Florida statute. AugerVault LLC listed as additional insured. Email COIs to rent@augervault.com.

What payment methods do you accept?

ACH (preferred, no surcharge), credit card (3% processing fee), wire, and net-30 for approved accounts. Full details in the Rental Terms.

05Damage, teeth & returns

What if a tooth breaks mid-shift?

Every partner yard stocks replacement teeth (carbide conical, CFA cutting tips, flat-cut, bullet) and block assemblies. Swap them in the field, keep drilling. You'll be charged at the per-tooth retail price — carbide conical $65 each, flat-cut $22, CFA tips $60, bullet $17. Normal wear is not charged back; only broken or missing teeth are.

What counts as "normal wear" vs chargeable damage?

Normal wear: tooth attrition, minor scoring on flights, paint loss. Chargeable damage: bent flights, cracked welds requiring re-welding, damaged kelly box/coupler, non-recoverable structural damage, tooling lost or stolen. See the full damage schedule for typical $ ranges.

Do I need to pressure-wash the tool before returning it?

No — our partner shops handle washing and re-toothing between rentals. But: if you return a tool with hardened grout, concrete, or CLSM caked on the flights, there's a $150 hardened-material cleaning charge per tool. Rinse with water before the cement sets and you'll avoid it.

Is there damage waiver?

Yes, optional — 12% of rental total. It caps liability at $500 per incident, excluding gross negligence, misuse, theft, and lost tools. Must be elected at booking; can't be added retroactively. Many contractors skip it because their own Inland Marine policy covers rented equipment.

We'd rather answer than have you guess. Call or email — same team either way.
